Overall, the 1560 has the normal Pelican quality. I use this case to transport about 25lbs of gear. The rolling function makes this easy. I reduced my rating by one star because of the strength of the non-latch ends. When lifting by the end handle (located on the top) the seem pops open, exposing what's inside to whatever dirt or moisture happens to be around. Side latches would have prevented this. This may seem picky, but lifting the case from the top handle is a natural action, say after rolling the case up to the back of your vehicle. To keep the case sealed I have to use the side handle - which defeats the whole purpose of having a handle on top.

The Highest Quality Case Money Can Buy

Pelican has become the standard in cases, to which all others are compared, and for good reason. They are well built, water-proof, and the included foam allows a custom fit for the items inside. I feel I could drop this case from the loading platform and it would easily protect the contents. This particular case is a bit heavy, so the included retractable handle and wheels make for easy transport. They are a bit pricey, but when you want the best protection, these cases are well worth the price. I'm using this case for my audio mixer and accessories, and feel confident that they are well protected. Moving them from our practice space to gigs is easy as everything fits in one place. Highly recommended.

I will write this review for LF photographers to give them an idea of what the 1560 can handle safely. Packed my 4x5 Chamonix, 12 double darks, pentax spot meter, level, 5 lenses(including a 75mm and 305 clarion), 2 1-inch 4x5 film boxes, 2 1/2-inch film boxes, as well as a few spare light meter batteries and cable release. Cozy but totally secure. Shipped it cross country UPS and then returned with me as checked baggage. Arrived and returned without incident and that was including the TSA inspection.

Pelican 1560 Case with Foam for Camera.

I found that the Pelican 1560 case with foam has been a very good case for my camera equipment as it keeps it all went in reach whenever I need it in the field with all lenses and cameras within reach. I do think that the lid is hard to close I am not sure why but will live with it, the next one may not have that problem, Do I recommend it, Yes.

I couldn't be happier. I used Pelican cases throughout my entire military.

I couldn't be happier. I used Pelican cases throughout my entire military career and now as a photographer. They have never failed, absolutely the best and worth the money. I highly recommend the pluck n pull foam for perfect customization. I have placed every bit of photography gear i own in one case. After about 4 months of hauling it to every shoot location I have bought another for more my gear. It just works. Don't let your valuable equipment bounce around and get ruined, invest wisely in your business.

Fantastic case! I also have the Pelican 1510 w/padded dividers, but now that I'm doing more and more video I needed a larger case. This case is the perfect size for me-large enough to handle all my gear, but not so big that when it's fully loaded I can't carry it! I've been using Pelican cases for over 30 years now, and I've never had a single problem with them. As a photographer/videographer/filmmaker, I travel extensively and often to very remote locations, and I know that my Pelican cases are going to protect my gear and get everything there in one piece. Oh, be sure to get the padded dividers-once you try them you'll never go back to the pick and pluck foam because you can change the layout all time for different gear without having to buy new (and expensive) foam sets every time. Lastly, the lid organizer for this and other Pelican cases is a great add-on, really helps to organize those small items like flash cards, lens cleaner, lens caps, batteries, etc. The only complaint I've ever had about Pelican is their price, but if you shop around you can get good deals, and, these things are built to last forever!

Pelican Cases are always worth the Price

Pelican cases are expensive and bulky and sometimes difficult to travel with (customs always likes to have a look cause they think you're transporting something valuable). That said they are worth every penny! I travel with 50lbs of tools in my pelican case. I have had other tools boxes - plastic, metal, composite, and ballistic nylon - but nothing has lasted like a pelican case! it is the only case that Airline baggage handlers can't break (not for a lack of trying though). If you travel with delicate gear, expensive gear, or just don't want your personal items broken by baggage handlers. buy a pelican and worry no more.

Why didn't I do this sooner?

I bought this with the 1569 lid organizer for photo gear. Why didn't I buy this case sooner? This is a fantastic way to store gear where you know once its there its safe. I'm not sure I could actually get it to go carry on (it's not sized for that), but its not that far off. Also full of gear mine is really heavy so I'm not sure putting it in the overhead is a good idea anyway. Though I'm not planning to flying with it, maybe a gate check with TSA locks. After receiving this and putting it into action without a doubt go with padded dividers if you want to reuse it in the future. I think foam is good if you have a fixed piece of equipment and you don't plan on changing it out in the future. My photo gear gets replace periodically and this way I can just reconfigure the dividers. The foam would most likely offer more overall protection, but you sacrifice being able to reconfigure it over time and will loose some space just because of the way foam cutouts work. The 1569 Lid organizer is also a must. Simply fantastic and makes the 1560 with padded dividers great. The 1569 lid organizer screws in with provided screws into screw holes already in place. Well done Pelican! If you go with the divider and you plan on travel with this, you'll probably want to put a piece of foam between the gear and the lid organizer. (I'm thinking a towel, since that also has photo uses). But still overall great. Finally one thing to note, I've read all kinds of reviews on moisture in air tight containers that sit closed for long periods of time. Most of them talk about safes where the paper actually degrades fairly fast due to air moisture. Not sure why that would actually happen, but for a little extra I also added in a silica gel descant into my case to help remove any moisture I introduce into it. This case has two latches that close securely but if I were wheeling it around I would consider putting at least one lock or some device into one of the two locking holes just to make sure it didn't accidentally get unlatched and open up. For air travel it has two lock holes near each latch. So you'll need two locks if you want to secure it.
